Sacre-Coeur hospital of Montreal
In 2018, l'hôpital Sacré-Coeur of Montreal and the Laval Cemetery inaugurated the section that was specially created to accomodate babies who have died during pregancy, during birth or during their first weeks of life.
According to the agreement with the team from the Mother-Child unit of the Sacré-Coeur hospital of Montreal, the Laval Cemetery has provided and developed the site and dedicated a monument where the names of the deceased babies are inscribed.
"The preservation of values and family ties has always been at the heart of the mission of the Laval Cemetery. We sincerely hope to help facilitate the remembrance of parents who are experiencing this painful ordeal," said Jacques Poirier, director of the Laval Cemetery, who is also president and chief executive officer of Magnus Poirier.
The Laval Cemetery provides the following services free of charge:
- the transfer of the deceased from the hospital to the Cemetery
- the burial container
- the internment rights
- the burial
More than 25 families have benefitted from this program. (Reference 2017)
